Recommendation post
|| current mood: calm
|| current song: Pink Floyd, Dark Side Of The Moon

As promised earlier here are some tv series I would recommend if you are looking for something new.

1. Justified [FX]

Justified is a pretty new show heading into its 3rd season. I have seen only 7 episodes so far but I am pretty hooked.
Why?
I don't really know. lol

What is Justified about?
U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is a modern day 19th century-style lawman, enforcing his brand of justice in a way that puts a target on his back with criminals and places him at odds with his bosses in the Marshal service. That conflict results in a reassignment for Givens to the U.S. District covering the town where he grew up. He is an anachronism - a tough, soft spoken gentleman who finds his quarry fascinating, but never gives an inch. Dig under his placid skin and you'll find an angry man who grew up hard in rural Kentucky, with an outlaw father, who knows a lot more about who he doesn't want to be than who he really is.

Sounds like something I normally wouldn't watch. If it wasn't for the very charismatic main character Raylan Givens played by Timothy Olyphant. Such a BAMF! ;D
I guess, I have a thing for these kind of characters, dealing with all the stuff thrown at them, simply trying to do their jobs and  to stay alive and still having a witty, sarcastic onliner available at every possible moment. Otherwise not much of a big talker and loyal to the few friends they have (compare to Mal Reynolds (Firefly), John Sheppard (Stargate Atlantis), John McClane (Die Hard) aso. )
The storyline around Raylan vs. all the bad guys in Harlan (pretty much one family :D) is developing right now and I am really looking forward to see more.

2. Deadwood [HBO]

HBO? This stands for qualitiy tv, right? (even tho I have to admit I haven't seen many HBO series so far ^^ )

Deadwood is a Western (yea, right- WESTERN (Firefly anyone?) drama series, first aired in 2004.

Plot: The town of Deadwood, South Dakota in the weeks following the Custer massacre is a lawless sinkhole of crime and corruption. Into this uncivilized outpost ride a disillusioned and bitter ex-lawman, Wild Bill Hickok, and Seth Bullock, a man hoping to find a new start for himself. Both men find themselves quickly on opposite sides of the legal and moral fence from Al Swearengen, saloon owner, hotel operator, and incipient boss of Deadwood. The lives of these three intertwine with many others, the high-minded and the low-lifes who populate Deadwood in 1876.

Bad language, violence, bad language, sex, bad language! Deadwood has all that and much more. Mostly bad language tho. lol Honestly, I learned quite some new forms of swearing. ^^
The actors are quite charismatic (mosty Ian McShane, Brad Dourif (Wormtongue!!!!!! ) and Timothy Olyphant (again, and no, I am not developing a new celebrity crush, I swear! ) But pretty much everyone does a good job on the acting part (even a young Kristen Bell is in there :-) ).
And it's just fun to watch Al and Seth dealing with everything and the "town" growing together. I am nearly done with season 1 and again- I can't wait to see more.

3. Fairly Legal [USA NetWork]

Something else Pedro and I started watching. It's nothing special, but it's very light entertainment and also fun to watch. :) Has just been renewed for 1 second season.

Kate Reed changes her profession from lawyer to mediator and works at the San Francisco law firm her father started. Kate's father has recently died leaving Kate and the firm to adjust to the loss.

Nice, funny and warm show. :)

Yay, neue Serien! :D
